The mission of the Farmer Veteran Coalition is to mobilize veterans to feed America. We believe that veterans possess the unique skills and character needed to strengthen rural communities and create sustainable food systems for all.

National Farmers Union believes that good opportunities in production agriculture are the foundation of strong farm and ranch families, and strong farm and ranch families are the basis for thriving rural communities. Vibrant rural communities, in turn, are vital to the health, security and economic well-being of our entire national economy.

The primary purposes of PA-WAgN are to encourage and support women in agriculture; provide and strengthen networks for women in agriculture; provide educational and mentoring opportunities for women in agriculture; raise community awareness of agricultural related issues and concerns; and sustain farming livelihoods. The network is comprised of women farmers, agricultural professionals, agricultural educators, and informed consumers committed to supporting and providing educational opportunities to women working in agriculture and related businesses.
PA-WAgN offers on-farm education, hands-on workshop, conferences, networking opportunities, mentoring, and online information sharing tools.

The Women’s Farmer Veteran Network is a national network of veterans who advocate for food security, social equity, and healing through a renewal of humanity’s age old connection to the Earth. We are champions of the poor, the under-served, and the Earth. Each of us holds core values of service to our communities, an ethos of sustainability in our farms and ranches, and a driving need to leave the world a better place than what we came in on. The Farmer Veteran Network is a means for us to help each other build stronger and more cohesive strategies for local grassroots action with a global view that has been honed by our unusual outlook as veterans and AgriActivists.

USDA-New Farmers
***Includes great intel and opportunities for Farmer Veterans***
New farmers are growing traditional crops and new varieties, organic produce and heirloom products. They are part of row-crop farms – employing cutting-edge technology and equipment – and community supported agriculture programs – delivering fresh products directly to their neighbors. They are raising beef, pork, dairy cattle, poultry, and fish on operations of every size. And as the average age of farmers and ranchers in America continues to rise, the question of how we build our bench in agriculture becomes ever more important.

The Growing Warriors Project helps veterans to serve their communities in a new role- as true nation builders- literally from the ground up.
